Nationwide Building Society Reaps Big Rewards from Deploying Onaro’s Storage Service Management Solution

BOSTON, MA - August 15, 2006 -

Onaro, Inc., the leader in storage service management (SSM), announced today that leading UK building society, Nationwide, has proved once more it is ahead of the curve in adopting new products and technologies by becoming one of the first companies in Europe to deploy Onaro SANscreen®, the market-leading storage service management product.  In the first week of deployment, Nationwide achieved 50% ROI and full ROI within one month of deployment.

“This has been a tremendous purchase for Nationwide,” said Arthur Amos, head of technology infrastructure for Nationwide.  “Nationwide has a large SAN infrastructure used and managed by multiple groups within the company.  We needed to see what was really going on across the entire storage infrastructure – how all the elements of our SAN truly fitted together.  SANscreen proved to be the ideal fit for delivering this information.”

SANscreen offered many features that made it an easy purchasing decision for Nationwide.  Specifically, the system is non-invasive and easy to deploy.  It is agent-free and non-disruptive and implementation is quick and non-complex. Plus there was no overlap with other products in use at Nationwide. This was very important in their decision to buy SANscreen.

“Following implementation, we enjoyed immediate and measurable benefit, around 50% payback on our investment almost immediately and full payback within a few weeks,” explained Amos.  “Operationally, SANscreen helped us discover redundant equipment and then a small number of hosts which should have been duel-honed but were not.  We were able to rectify any conflicts or issues very quickly.”

SANscreen is also facilitating better planning and management of change within Nationwide’s SAN as it validates all prospective changes, enabling them to see the impact of individual and multiple changes within the infrastructure and also the final solution impact before going ahead.  This is of high value to Nationwide.

“Moving forward, SANscreen is facilitating ongoing internal compliance with Nationwide’s infrastructure configuration and aiding fault finding and resolution.  It has become an integral part of our overall SAN management system and I think it will play an important ongoing role for the foreseeable future,” concluded Amos.

Doug McNary, president and CEO for Onaro, said, “Nationwide is known as an early adopter of new technologies and solutions and is well-deserving of its reputation as a forward-thinking organization from an IT perspective.  We are delighted that Nationwide has chosen SANscreen.  It eliminates the guesswork and extensive troubleshooting required for SAN change, growth, migration and consolidation.”

Nationwide was introduced to Onaro by Computacenter, Europe’s leading independent provider of IT infrastructure services.  John Beard, Computacenter’s client manager for Nationwide Building Society, said, “By working with Onaro, Computacenter was able to proactively offer a solution that provided Nationwide with immediate business benefit and an excellent return on investment. The engagement with Nationwide has been the catalyst for wider engagements between our two organizations and the Onaro software is becoming a core component of the offerings from our Storage Solutions Unit.”
