Combining Performance Data with Service Path Awareness
Application Insight combines real time, always on, heterogeneous storage performance data with service path awareness to provide a complete application to array picture of storage resource utilization and efficiency.
Application Insight starts by collecting port performance information across the SAN, across all ports, all the time. This always on capability is in stark contrast to most applications that are reactive in their information gathering.

Application Insight stores this raw port performance information for 7 days. Beyond 7 days, Application Insight creates a histogram of port utilization for the prior year.

Although having a historical database of performance information is interesting, without the ability to provide a context to this data, it is little more than device specific data without linkage to an application, array, fabric, or host. In addition, without a greater understand of how traffic flows through the SAN, it is impossible to determine the load across the SAN.
Application Insight takes this performance data and combines it with path service data.
